If you like marzipan you will enjoy the almond, butterscotch taste of these. They are not as sweet as marzipan, but slightly reminiscent. I have always loved marzipan. I remember when I was younger I used to like buying VO5 shampoo just so that I could stand in the shower and sniff the bottle. I did also use it to wash my hair. I am not completely weird! I also like amaretto (the liquor). I used to like buying shots of that so I could sit and sniff the drink first. Anyway, enough about my nose. Lets talk about the balls!
100g almonds (ideally soaked overnight)
1 tablespoon almond butter
1/4 teaspoon of almond extract
pinch of salt
1 tablespoon maca powder
Flaked almonds for rolling the balls in.
In the food processor whizz up the dates, almond butter, almond extract, salt and maca powder, until smooth and well blended.
Then whizz up the almonds into the mix, but leave them still slightly crunchy.
Roll the mix into balls
Roll the balls in flaked almonds to coat.
