
Orange inflammation fighter smoothie

Orange, carrot, pepper and turmeric smoothie

This smoothie is a beautiful vibrant orange colour. A great source of vitamin C, and beta carotene.
Turmeric seemed an obvious choice to continue with the colour. The curcumin in turmeric has so many health benefits. It is great for fighting inflammation. In order to increase the bioavailability of the curcumin I have added coconut oil and black pepper to the smoothie. Studies have shown that adding fat and black pepper can increase the bioavailability of curcumin by 1000 times. Black pepper contains piperin, which helps stimulate hydrochloric acid in the stomach
Ingredients
2 oranges, flesh included, pips removed
Half a yellow or orange pepper
1 carrot
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1/4 teaspoon coconut oil
A pinch of black pepper
Filtered water
Directions
Trim the peel off the oranges
Cut the orange in half and carefully remove seeds
Cut yellow pepper in half and remove seeds
Peel and chop one carrot
Add the above ingredients to a nutribullet with the coconut oil, turmeric, and black pepper
Add water to just below the level of the ingredients in the nutribullet
Whizz together in the nutribullet and serve
