Sporty coconut, ginger, beetroot and pineapple smoothie

Coconut water is packed full of electrolytes such as potassium, calcium and magnesium.  This makes it great for drinking in conjunction with exercise. A study has shown that the nitrates in beetroot can improve your exercise performance.

Pineapple contains a compound called bromelain. This is great for reducing inflammation and aiding with digestion. It is also good for relieving aching muscles after sport. Bromelain is also good for sinus inflammation.


Ginger also has anti-inflammatory properties.


Ingredients


  • 1 raw beetroot (peeled)

  • A handful of pineapple

  • 1/2 cm of ginger (adjust according to your taste)

  • 250ml coconut water


Directions


  1. Pop all the ingredients into a nutribullet or your blender, and whizz together.

  2. Taste it, and adjust accordingly to your taste. Work out if you need to add more ginger for warmth or pineapple for sweetness.
